Ridge Gourd with Poppy Seeds / Aloo- Jhinge Posto

Posto or khas khas is used in Bengali kitchens in several different ways. You can make different kinds of vegetable like aloo, Bhindi, jhinge etc.


Ingredients :

Jhinge : 1 kg
Onion : 1, small, sliced
Poppy Seeds Paste : 3 tbsp.
Turmeric Powder : 1 tsp.
Salt to taste
Black Cumin Seeds : 1 tsp.
Whole Green chilli : 1 or 2


Method :

Peel Jhinge and then cut length wise in half.Cut again into small circles of quarter inch.

Heat Oil in a Kadhai and then add black cumin seeds whole green chilli to it.

Add Onions to it and sauté well.

Add Ridge Gourd, potatoes and sauté well.Now add poppy seeds paste, salt, turmeric powder and mix well, cook well till the Vegetables become dry.

Garnish with Green Chilli.........
